ततः सप्त रथान् वीरः स्यालानां तव भारत ॥
निहत्य भीमो नाराचैः शतचन्द्रम् अपोथयत् ॥

karṇasya dayitaṃ putraṃ vṛṣasenam avākirat ||
tato vṛṣaratho nāma bhrātā karṇasya viśrutaḥ ||
jaghāna bhīmaṃ nārācais tam apy abhyavadhīd balī ||
tataḥ sapta rathān vīraḥ syālānāṃ tava bhārata ||
nihatya bhīmo nārācaiḥ śatacandram apothayat ||
With ten narachas, Bhima, having slain those sons of yours, showered Karna's beloved son Vrishasena. Then Vrishatha by name, the renowned brother of Karna, struck Bhima with narachas; and the mighty Bhima slew him too. Then, having slain seven warriors, your brothers-in-law, O Bharata, Bhima crushed Shatachandra with narachas.

Bhima mows down enemies by the score — sons, brothers-in-law, the brother of Karna: a night battle turned into unrestrained slaughter. Tellingly, kinsmen of Dhritarashtra and of Karna fall together: strife devours whole families. The verse teaches that war, once kindled, spares neither sons nor brothers nor kinsmen by marriage; and the unrestrained valor of one man turns into the ruin of many houses at once.
