पितेव नित्यं सौहार्दात् पितेव स हि धर्मतः ॥
सो ऽल्पकालस्य राज्यस्य कारणान् निहतो गुरुः ॥
धृतराष्ट्रेण भीष्माय द्रोणाय च विशां पते ॥
विसृष्टा पृथिवी सर्वा सह पुत्रैश् च तत्परैः ॥
स प्राप्य तादृशीं वृत्तिं सत्कृतः सततं परैः ॥
अवृणीत सदा पुत्रान् माम् एवाभ्यधिकं गुरुः ॥

译文

"'Like a father always in friendliness, like a father too by dharma -- for the sake of a brief kingdom he was slain, the teacher. By Dhritarashtra the whole earth was given over to Bhishma and to Drona, O lord of peoples, together with the sons devoted to it. He, having received such an estate, ever honored by others [the Kauravas], the teacher always preferred me above his own sons.'"
