पश्यध्वं मे दृढौ बाहू नागराजकरोपमा ॥
समर्थौ पर्वतस्यापि शैशिरस्य निपातने ॥
नागायुतसमप्राणो ह्य् अहम् एको नरेष्व् इह ॥
शक्रो यथा प्रतिद्वंद्वो दिवि देवेषु विश्रुतः ॥
अद्य पश्यत मे वीर्यं बाह्वोः पीनांसयोर् युधि ॥
ज्वलमानस्य दीप्तस्य द्रौणेर् अस्त्रस्य वारणे ॥
paśyadhvaṃ me dṛḍhau bāhū nāgarājakaropamā ||
samarthau parvatasyāpi śaiśirasya nipātane ||
nāgāyutasamaprāṇo hy aham eko nareṣv iha ||
śakro yathā pratidvaṃdvo divi deveṣu viśrutaḥ ||
adya paśyata me vīryaṃ bāhvoḥ pīnāṃsayor yudhi ||
jvalamānasya dīptasya drauṇer astrasya vāraṇe ||
"Behold my sturdy arms, like the trunks of the lord of elephants, able even to bring down a mountain of snow. For in strength I alone among men here am equal to ten thousand elephants, like Shakra, the peerless rival renowned among the gods in heaven. Now behold the might of my mighty-shouldered arms in battle — in repelling the blazing, radiant weapon of Drauni."

Bhima revels in his own might — arms like elephants' trunks, the strength of ten thousand elephants. It is telling that all this genuine might will prove powerless before the divine weapon: bodily strength cannot stand against the strength of spirit. The verse teaches that there is a threshold where earthly might, however great, is powerless; and one who boasts of bodily strength before the weapon of the gods only exposes the limit of all that is mortal — for flesh cannot overcome what belongs to spirit.
