Healing from all diseases and a hundred-year life are promised; and in the ten lines that follow, such promises will come one after another — from diseases of the eyes, the ears, the head. Let us say this once for the whole section, so as not to repeat it. One must not treat oneself with breathing exercises in place of a physician, and a person who does so does ill — above all toward those who depend on him. This has already been discussed when reading the Rudraksha-jabala (2.16), and there is no need to repeat the arguments.
It is worth saying something else: why these promises are so abundant just here. The reason, in my view, is that these exercises truly do benefit the body — they calm, strengthen the breath, aid sleep. There is a benefit; and, once noticed, it grows in description into a cure-all.
