This passage (5.88.1-5) develops the central theme of the Udyoga-parva: the effort toward peace unfolds against the backdrop of an already inevitable war. Key themes: Krishna, Vidura. Dharma reveals itself here through speech, the choice of an embassy, fidelity to promises, and the responsibility of kings for the consequences of their decisions.
