दुःशासनबलं हत्वा सव्यसाची धनंजयः ॥
सिन्धुराजं परीप्सन् वै द्रोणानीकम् उपाद्रवत् ॥
स तु द्रोणं समासाद्य व्यूहस्य प्रमुखे स्थितम् ॥
कृताञ्जलिर् इदं वाक्यं कृष्णस्यानुमते ऽब्रवीत् ॥

sindhurājaṃ parīpsan vai droṇānīkam upādravat ||

kṛtāñjalir idaṃ vākyaṃ kṛṣṇasyānumate 'bravīt ||

Translation
Having slain Duhshasana's army, Savyasachin Dhananjaya, wishing to reach the king of Sindhu, rushed toward Drona's array. Having approached Drona, who stood at the head of the array, with joined palms, and with Krishna's permission, he spoke this word.

Reaching his teacher, Arjuna does not strike but joins his palms: 'kṛtāñjaliḥ… kṛṣṇasya anumate.' Before the teacher, reverence comes before battle, and moreover with the Lord's approval. It is telling that even amid the thick of slaughter, hastening toward his goal, he pauses to pay homage to his guru. The verse teaches that reverence for the teacher is not set aside even by enmity and haste: before one who must be honored, the devotee joins his hands rather than raising weapons first; and the Lord's blessing crowns this humility, for honoring the teacher is part of dharma, unbroken even in war.
