पुनर् अप्य् अतिसंक्रुद्धः सवृकोदरपार्षतान् ॥
स नाराचगणैः पार्थान् द्रौणिर् विद्ध्वा महाबलः ॥
जघान सुरथं नाम द्रुपदस्य सुतं विभुः ॥
पुनः श्रुतंजयं नाम सुरथस्यानुजं रणे ॥
बलानीकं जयानीकं जयाश्वं चाभिजघ्निवान् ॥
श्रुताह्वयं च राजेन्द्र द्रौणिर् निन्ये यमक्षयम् ॥
त्रिभिश् चान्यैः शरैस् तीक्ष्णैः सुपुङ्खै रुक्ममालिनम् ॥
शत्रुंजयं च बलिनं शक्रलोकं निनाय ह ॥
जघान स पृषध्रं च चन्द्रदेवं च मानिनम् ॥
कुन्तिभोजसुतांश् चाजौ दशभिर् दश जघ्निवान् ॥
punar apy atisaṃkruddhaḥ savṛkodarapārṣatān ||
sa nārācagaṇaiḥ pārthān drauṇir viddhvā mahābalaḥ ||
jaghāna surathaṃ nāma drupadasya sutaṃ vibhuḥ ||
punaḥ śrutaṃjayaṃ nāma surathasyānujaṃ raṇe ||
balānīkaṃ jayānīkaṃ jayāśvaṃ cābhijaghnivān ||
śrutāhvayaṃ ca rājendra drauṇir ninye yamakṣayam ||
tribhiś cānyaiḥ śarais tīkṣṇaiḥ supuṅkhai rukmamālinam ||
śatruṃjayaṃ ca balinaṃ śakralokaṃ nināya ha ||
jaghāna sa pṛṣadhraṃ ca candradevaṃ ca māninam ||
kuntibhojasutāṃś cājau daśabhir daśa jaghnivān ||
Once again, greatly enraged, the mighty Drauni, having pierced the Parthas together with Vrikodara and Parshata [Dhrishtadyumna] with masses of narachas, slew the powerful one named Suratha, son of Drupada; then, in battle, one named Shrutanjaya, Suratha's younger brother; he slew Balanika, Jayanika, and Jayashva, and Drauni sent Shrutahvaya, O lord of kings, to the abode of Yama. He slew Prishadhra and the proud Chandradeva, and the sons of Kuntibhoja in battle, slaying ten with ten arrows.

It is telling that each is named: every victim has a name and a lineage. The verse teaches that the cost of a night's aristeia is counted in names; and one who remembers the fallen by name does not allow familiarity with death to erase the weight of each life cut short.
