कुरुक्षेत्रं कुचस्थाने प्रयागं हृत्सरोरुहे । चिदम्बरं तु हृन्मध्ये आधारे कमलालयम्

The transposition of holy places continues: Kurukshetra (the field where the Gita was spoken), Prayaga (the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna), Chidambaram (the shrine of the dancing Shiva), Kamalalaya (otherwise Tiruvarur). Worth noting is the choice of places: they are taken from opposite ends of India and belong to different communities — north and south, Shaiva and common. The compiler, then, took not what his own school honored, but what everyone honored; and this gives the transposition a different sense than a simple exaltation of one's own.
