अगस्त्यः अथ मतङ्गः चagastyaḥ atha mataṅgaḥ caAgastya, then Matanga,
कालः मृत्युः तथा एव चkālaḥ mṛtyuḥ tathā eva caKala [Time] and Mrityu [Death],
यज्वानः च एव सिद्धाः चyajvānaḥ ca eva siddhāḥ caand sacrificers, and siddhas,
ये च योग-शरीरिणःye ca yoga-śarīriṇaḥand those whose body [is made] of yoga;
अग्निष्वात्ताः च पितरःagniṣvāttāḥ ca pitaraḥand the ancestors called agnishvattas,
फेनपाः च उष्मपाः च येphenapāḥ ca uṣmapāḥ ca yephenapas and ushmapas,
स्वधा-वन्तः बर्हिषदःsvadhā-vantaḥ barhiṣadaḥsvadhavantas, barhishads,
मूर्ति-मन्तः तथा अपरेmūrti-mantaḥ tathā apareand others, embodied;
काल-चक्रम् च साक्षात् चkāla-cakram ca sākṣāt caand the wheel of Time in visible form,
भगवान् हव्य-वाहनःbhagavān havya-vāhanaḥand lord Havyavahana [Agni],
नराः दुष्कृत-कर्माणःnarāḥ duṣkṛta-karmāṇaḥmen of evil deeds,
दक्षिण-अयन-मृत्यवःdakṣiṇa-ayana-mṛtyavaḥthose who died in the sun's southern course,
कालस्य नयने युक्ताःkālasya nayane yuktāḥappointed by Time to the leading [of souls],
यमस्य पुरुषाः च येyamasya puruṣāḥ ca yeand those who are Yama's servants;
तस्याम् शिंशप-पालाशाःtasyām śiṃśapa-pālāśāḥin it, the shinshapa and palasha [trees],
तथा काश-कुश-आदयःtathā kāśa-kuśa-ādayaḥas well as kasha, kusha, and the like [grasses],
उपासते धर्म-राजम्upāsate dharma-rājamattend upon Dharmaraja,
मूर्ति-मन्तः निरामयाःmūrti-mantaḥ nirāmayāḥembodied, free of affliction;

Here at Yama's side appear Time and Death, the paths of the departed, and the servants of retribution. It is significant that "men of evil deeds" are named too: before the judge gather both righteous and sinful — none escapes the reckoning. Thus the scripture reveals the inescapability of judgment upon every deed; and further comes the greatness of the hall itself.
