Here Varuna is honored both by the sons of Aditi and by the lords of the serpents. It is significant that around the guardian of the waters converge the powers of the heavens and of the subterranean depths: the lord of cosmic order holds sway over both the celestial and the hidden. Thus scripture reveals the all-encompassing reach of his power; and the roll-call of nagas continues.
