श्य मूर्धासिक्तानाम् चार्य नं कृतम्
कृत्वा प्रमुतः शूरं भीष्मं पिताहम्
तं नित्य प्रलुब्धो ऽयं शिण्डी पूर्णमासः
पाञ्चालैः हितः र्वैः सेनाग्रम् भिर्षति
रश् चापि दुर्धर्षः शिष्यस् ते व्यसाचिना
क्षौहिणीः प्त त्वा तो राजा द्रथः

paśya rdhāvasiktām ārya kadanaṃ kṛtam ||
kṛtvā pramukhataḥ śūraṃ bhīṣmaṃ mama pimaham ||
taṃ nihatya pralubdho 'yaṃ śikhaṇḍī rṇanasaḥ ||
ñcālaiḥ sahitaḥ sarvaiḥ segram abhikarṣati ||
aparaś cāpi durdharṣaḥ śiṣyas te savyaci ||
akṣauhiṇīḥ sapta hatvā hato jayadrathaḥ ||

Traducción

'Look, teacher, at the slaughter wrought upon the anointed kings. Having placed my grandfather, the hero Bhishma, in the front, and struck him down, this insolent Shikhandin, his desire fulfilled, together with all the Panchalas, rushes toward the head of the army. And your other unconquerable disciple, Savyasachin [Arjuna], having destroyed seven akshauhinis, has slain king Jayadratha.'
