द्विपाश्वस्यन्दनेभ्यश् च क्षितिं सर्वे ऽवरोहत ॥
एवम् एतन् न वो हन्याद् अस्त्रं भूमौ निरायुधान् ॥
यथा यथा हि युध्यन्ते योधा ह्य् अस्त्रबलं प्रति ॥
तथा तथा भवन्त्य् एते कौरवा बलवत्तराः ॥
निक्षेप्स्यन्ति च शस्त्राणि वाहनेभ्यो ऽवरुह्य ये ॥
तान् नैतद् अस्त्रं संग्रामे निहनिष्यति मानवान् ॥

evam etan na vo hanyād astraṃ bhūmau nirāyudhān ||
yathā yathā hi yudhyante yodhā hy astrabalaṃ prati ||
tathā tathā bhavanty ete kauravā balavattarāḥ ||
nikṣepsyanti ca śastrāṇi vāhanebhyo 'varuhya ye ||
tān naitad astraṃ saṃgrāme nihaniṣyati mānavān ||

तान् न एतत् अस्त्रम् संग्रामेtān na etat astram saṃgrāmethose this weapon in battle; those this weapon in combat

निहनिष्यति मानवान्nihaniṣyati mānavānwill not kill, the men; will not strike down, the men

Traducción

"Get down onto the ground, all of you, from your elephants, horses, and chariots; thus it will not kill you, unarmed, on the ground. The more the warriors fight against the power of the weapon, the stronger these Kauravas [and the weapon] become. But whoever lays down his weapons and dismounts from his vehicle — that weapon will not slay him in battle."

Comentario

Krishna reveals the law of the weapon: it grows from resistance and fades before the unarmed. It is telling that what saves is not valor but surrender — the renunciation of hostility in deed and in thought alike. The verse teaches that there are powers overcome only by non-resistance; and the meekness that pride takes for weakness proves the sole shield where all strength only multiplies ruin.
