अनुवाद

"She saw the god Brahma, creator of the worlds, unchanging, surrounded by gods, twice-born ones, and great sages. Him, praised by joyful gandharvas and apsarases skilled in hymns of praise, she, drawing near, honored. And the Earth, seeking refuge, told him her plight, O Bharata, in the presence of all the guardians of the world. But the Earth's plight had already been known before to the Self-existent, the Highest One, O king. For how should the creator of the world, O Bharata, not fully perceive the hidden thoughts of gods, demons, and all worlds? The lord of the earth, all-powerful, source of all beings, the master, the beneficent one, Prajapati, said to the Earth, O great king: 'For whatever purpose you have come to me, O Earth, for that purpose I shall enlist all the dwellers of heaven.' Having said this and dismissed the Earth, the god Brahma, creator of beings, himself then commanded all the gods: 'To remove the burden of this Earth, be born upon her, each by his own portion, separately, for the sake of opposing the demons' — so he said. And having likewise gathered the hosts of gandharvas and apsarases, the lord spoke to them all this excellent word: 'Be born among men by your own portions, as you wish.' And Shakra and all the gods, having heard the true, beneficial, salutary word of the teacher of the gods, then accepted it. And they, resolved to go to the earth by their own portions, turned to Narayana, slayer of foes, dwelling in Vaikuntha — to him who bears the disc and mace, clad in yellow, dark-radiant, lotus-naveled, slayer of the enemies of the gods, with broad, lovely, elongated eyes. Indra said to the Supreme Person: 'For the purification of the earth, descend by a portion'; and Hari said: 'So be it.'"
