तम् अब्रवीन् निर्मलतोयदाभो; हलायुधो ऽनन्तरजं प्रतीतः ॥
प्रीतो ऽस्मि दिष्ट्या हि पितृष्वसा नः; पृथा विमुक्ता सह कौरवाग्र्यैः ॥

Here the news of loved ones' safety brings forth joy. It is telling that Balarama rejoices not over victory in the arena but over the fact that his aunt Pritha is alive with her sons: for a loving heart, nothing is dearer than the wellbeing of family. Here is the pure kinship-affection of the Yadavas for the Pandavas: their deliverance is a joy to Krishna and Balarama alike. So the text shows a love that rejoices in the life of those near to it; and the recognition of the Pandavas gives way not to calculation but to heartfelt gladness that they have survived.
