सर्वैर् एतैर् मदैर् मत्ताव् अन्योन्यं भ्रुकुटीकृतौ ॥
मदकामसमाविष्टौ परस्परम् अथोचतुः ॥
मम भार्या तव गुरुर् इति सुन्दो ऽभ्यभाषत ॥
मम भार्या तव वधूर् उपसुन्दो ऽभ्यभाषत ॥

अनुवाद
"Intoxicated by all these forms of intoxication, frowning at one another, seized by intoxication and desire, they then said to each other: 'My wife is to you as an elder sister-in-law,' said Sunda; 'My wife is to you as a younger sister-in-law,' said Upasunda."

Here possessiveness tears apart the bonds of brotherhood. It is significant that each declares her "his own wife," demanding from the other the respect due to an elder or a younger sister-in-law: "mine" intrudes between the inseparable and makes them enemies. Here it reveals itself that mamata [the sense of "mine"] is the root of discord, capable of destroying even the strongest love. Thus the scripture shows the birth of strife from possessiveness; and the word "mine" becomes the beginning of ruin.
