देवनागरी
नैषा तव ममैषेति तत्र तौ मन्युर् आविशत् ॥
तस्या हेतोर् गदे भीमे ताव् उभाव् अप्य् अगृह्णताम् ॥
तौ प्रगृह्य गदे भीमे तस्याः कामेन मोहितौ ॥
अहं पूर्वम् अहं पूर्वम् इत्य् अन्योन्यं निजघ्नतुः ॥

Here passion and anger drive the inseparable toward fratricide. It is significant that "I first!" is the cry of blinded self-love: where there had been "we," now "I" has taken hold. Here it is revealed how kama, turning into krodha [anger], destroys utterly: passion and fury are the gates of ruin. Thus the scripture shows the fatal outcome; and those unconquerable from without fell by their own hands.
