स कलिङ्गान् अतिक्रम्य देशान् आयतनानि च ॥
धर्म्याणि रमणीयानि प्रेक्षमाणो ययौ प्रभुः ॥
महेन्द्रपर्वतं दृष्ट्वा तापसैर् उपशोभितम् ॥
समुद्रतीरेण शनैर् मणलूरं जगाम ह ॥

अनुवाद

Here the mountain is beautiful not for its stone but for the ascetics upon it. It is significant that Mahendra is "adorned with ascetics": holy men are the true splendor of a place. The presence of tapasvins sanctifies and adorns the land. Thus scripture shows the sanctity of Mahendra; and Arjuna's path brings him on to Manipura.
