एतच् छ्रुत्वा मुनिर् ध्यानम् अगमत् क्षुभितेन्द्रियः ॥
तस्यैव चाम्रवृक्षस्य छायायां समुपाविशत् ॥
तस्योपविष्टस्य मुनेर् उत्सङ्गे निपपात ह ॥
अवातम् अशुकादष्टम् एकम् आम्रफलं किल ॥
तत् प्रगृह्य मुनिश्रेष्ठो हृदयेनाभिमन्त्र्य च ॥
राज्ञे ददाव् अप्रतिमं पुत्रसंप्राप्तिकारकम् ॥

tat pragṛhya muniśreṣṭho hṛdayenābhimantrya ca ||
rājñe dadāv apratimaṃ putrasaṃprāptikārakam ||

तस्य एव च आम्र-वृक्षस्यtasya eva ca āmra-vṛkṣasyaand of that very mango tree
छायायाम् समुपाविशत्chāyāyām samupāviśatsat down in the shade;
तस्य उपविष्टस्य मुनेःtasya upaviṣṭasya muneḥonto that seated sage
उत्सङ्गे निपपात हutsaṅge nipapāta hathere fell into his lap
अवातम् अशुक-अदष्टम्avātam aśuka-adaṣṭamnot knocked down by wind, not pecked by a parrot,
एकम् आम्र-फलम् किलekam āmra-phalam kilaa single mango fruit;
तत् प्रगृह्य मुनि-श्रेष्ठःtat pragṛhya muni-śreṣṭhaḥtaking it, the best of sages,
हृदयेन अभिमन्त्र्य चhṛdayena abhimantrya cahaving charmed it in his heart,
राज्ञे ददौ अप्रतिमम्rājñe dadau apratimamgave the king the incomparable fruit,
पुत्र-संप्राप्ति-कारकम्putra-saṃprāpti-kārakambestowing the attainment of a son;

अनुवाद

"Hearing this, the sage, his senses stirred, fell into deep thought and sat down in the shade of that very mango tree; and into the lap of the seated sage fell a single mango fruit — not knocked down by the wind, not pecked by a parrot. Taking it and consecrating it in his heart, the best of sages gave the king the incomparable fruit, which grants the attainment of a son."
