श्रुत्वा तु वचनं राज्ञां धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
यथार्हं पूज्य नृपतीन् भ्रातॄन् सर्वान् उवाच ह ॥
राजानः सर्व एवैते प्रीत्यास्मान् समुपागताः ॥
प्रस्थिताः स्वानि राष्ट्राणि माम् आपृच्छ्य परंतपाः ॥
ते ऽनुव्रजत भद्रं वो विषयान्तं नृपोत्तमान् ॥
भ्रातुर् वचनम् आज्ञाय पाण्डवा धर्मचारिणः ॥
यथार्हं नृपमुख्यांस् तान् एकैकं समनुव्रजन् ॥

yathārhaṃ pūjya nṛpatīn bhrātṝn sarvān uvāca ha ||
rājānaḥ sarva evaite prītyāsmān samupāgatāḥ ||
prasthitāḥ svāni rāṣṭrāṇi mām āpṛcchya paraṃtapāḥ ||
te 'nuvrajata bhadraṃ vo viṣayāntaṃ nṛpottamān ||
bhrātur vacanam ājñāya pāṇḍavā dharmacāriṇaḥ ||
yathārhaṃ nṛpamukhyāṃs tān ekaikaṃ samanuvrajan ||
Having heard the word of the kings, Dharmaraja Yudhishthira, having honored them as was fitting, said to all his brothers: "All these kings have come to us out of affection and, having asked my leave, are setting out for their own kingdoms, O scourges of foes; escort them." Understanding their brother's word, the Pandavas, who live by dharma, escorted each of those foremost kings, as was fitting.

Yudhishthira sees off the guests not alone, but through the hands of his brothers -- entrusting each with escorting the most worthy. It is telling that even at the close of the celebration courtesy is kept to the very end: a guest must not only be welcomed but also seen off with honor. The verse teaches that hospitality is complete only when it is whole from beginning to end: half of hospitality lies in the farewell. And the brothers' concord, carrying out their elder's will "as was fitting," reveals the same harmony that had overshadowed the whole affair: a single family, where the younger honor the word of its head. Where welcome and farewell are equally respectful, the honor shown is not for display but from the heart; to conclude with respect is the seal of true hospitality.
