अनुवाद

And he who is wise, caring for both virtue and profit, attains happiness. Do by day what will let you pass the night happily; and do, over eight months of the year, what will let you pass the rainy season happily. Do in youth what will secure a happy old age; and do throughout your life here what will let you dwell happily hereafter. The wise man values food that is easily digested, a wife whose youth has passed, a hero who has come through battle victorious, and an ascetic whose efforts have borne fruit. A breach that men try to fill with wealth wrongfully acquired remains unfilled, and elsewhere new ones open. A teacher governs those whose souls are under their own control; a king controls the wicked; while those who sin in secret have as their master Yama, son of Vivasvat. The greatness of sages, of rivers, of riverbanks, of noble men, and the cause of women's wickedness — none of these can be fathomed.
