स दिष्ट्या समनुप्राप्तस् तव पार्थ रथान्तिकम् ॥
जह्य् एनं वै महाबाहो यथा वृत्रं पुरंदरः ॥
एष ह्य् अनर्थे सततं पराक्रान्तस् तवानघ ॥
निकृत्या धर्मराजं च द्यूते वञ्चितवान् अयम् ॥

jahy enaṃ vai mahābāho yathā vṛtraṃ puraṃdaraḥ ||

अनुवाद
"He has, by good fortune, arrived at the proximity of your chariot, Partha; kill him, O mighty-armed one, as Purandara [Indra slew] Vritra. For he has constantly striven to your harm, O sinless one, and by deceit he deceived the King of Dharma in the game."

Krishna recalls "nikṛtyā... dyūte vañcitavān," the deceit in the game by which the King of Dharma was overthrown. The comparison "yathā vṛtraṃ puraṃdaraḥ," as Indra slew Vritra, places the coming battle among the victories of the deva over the asura. It is telling that a specific wrong is named -- the deceit in the game. The verse teaches that retribution is righteous when it is aimed at an actual wrong: Krishna does not kindle blind vengeance but points to the deed of evil committed -- the deceit that ruined the righteous; and righteous anger is precise, for it knows the name of the guilt it punishes.
