प्रतिलभ्य ततः संज्ञां मारुतिः क्रोधमूर्छितः ॥
विकृष्य कार्मुकं घोरं भारसाधनम् उत्तमम् ॥
अलम्बुसं शरैस् तीक्ष्णैर् अर्दयाम् आस सर्वतः ॥
स विद्धो बहुभिर् बाणैर् नीलाञ्जनचयोपमः ॥
शुशुभे सर्वतो राजन् प्रदीप्त इव किंशुकः ॥
स वध्यमानः समरे भीमचापच्युतैः शरैः ॥
स्मरन् भ्रातृवधं चैव पाण्डवेन महात्मना ॥

pratilabhya tataḥ saṃjñāṃ mārutiḥ krodhamūrchitaḥ ||
vikṛṣya kārmukaṃ ghoraṃ bhārasādhanam uttamam ||
alambusaṃ śarais tīkṣṇair ardayām āsa sarvataḥ ||
sa viddho bahubhir bāṇair nīlāñjanacayopamaḥ ||
śuśubhe sarvato rājan pradīpta iva kiṃśukaḥ ||
sa vadhyamānaḥ samare bhīmacāpacyutaiḥ śaraiḥ ||
smaran bhrātṛvadhaṃ caiva pāṇḍavena mahātmanā ||

प्रतिलभ्य ततः संज्ञाम्pratilabhya tataḥ saṃjñāmregaining then his senses; coming then back to himself
मारुतिः क्रोधमूर्छितःmārutiḥ krodhamūrchitaḥthe son of the Wind, overcome by wrath; the son of Maruta, darkened by fury
विकृष्य कार्मुकम् घोरम्vikṛṣya kārmukam ghoramdrawing his terrible bow; having drawn his fearsome bow
भारसाधनम् उत्तमम्bhārasādhanam uttamama burdensome weapon, the finest; an instrument bearing death, the excellent [weapon]
सः विद्धः बहुभिः बाणैःsaḥ viddhaḥ bahubhiḥ bāṇaiḥhe, pierced by many arrows; he, pierced by a multitude of arrows
नीलाञ्जनचयोपमःnīlāñjanacayopamaḥresembling a heap of dark collyrium; like a heap of dark antimony
शुशुभे सर्वतः राजन्śuśubhe sarvataḥ rājanshone on every side, O king; shone forth from every side, O king
प्रदीप्तः इव किंशुकःpradīptaḥ iva kiṃśukaḥlike a blazing [tree] kimshuka; like a flaming kimshuka
सः वध्यमानः समरेsaḥ vadhyamānaḥ samarehe, being struck in the battle; he, being pelted [with arrows] in the fight
भीमचापच्युतैः शरैःbhīmacāpacyutaiḥ śaraiḥwith arrows loosed from Bhima's bow; with arrows that had flown from Bhima's bow
स्मरन् भ्रातृवधम् च एवsmaran bhrātṛvadham ca evaand remembering the slaying of his brother; and recalling the death of his brother
पाण्डवेन महात्मनाpāṇḍavena mahātmanāby the Pandava, the great-souled one; [wrought] by the Pandava, the great-souled one
अनुवाद

Then, coming back to his senses, the son of the Wind, overcome with wrath, drew his terrible bow—that burdensome, finest of weapons. Pierced by many arrows, resembling a heap of dark collyrium, he shone on every side, O king, like a blazing kimshuka tree. And that rakshasa, struck in the battle by the arrows loosed from Bhima's bow, remembering the slaying of his brother by the great-souled Pandava...
