स वध्यमानो बहुधा भीमसेनेन राक्षसः ॥
संत्यज्य संयुगे भीमं द्रोणानीकम् उपाद्रवत् ॥
तस्मिंस् तु निर्जिते राजन् राक्षसेन्द्रे महात्मना ॥
अनादयन् सिंहनादैः पाण्डवाः सर्वतोदिशम् ॥
अपूजयन् मारुतिं च संहृष्टास् ते महाबलम् ॥
प्रह्रादं समरे जित्वा यथा शक्रं मरुद्गणाः ॥

sa vadhyamāno bahudhā bhīmasenena rākṣasaḥ ||
saṃtyajya saṃyuge bhīmaṃ droṇānīkam upādravat ||
tasmiṃs tu nirjite rājan rākṣasendre mahātmanā ||
anādayan siṃhanādaiḥ pāṇḍavāḥ sarvatodiśam ||
apūjayan mārutiṃ ca saṃhṛṣṭās te mahābalam ||
prahrādaṃ samare jitvā yathā śakraṃ marudgaṇāḥ ||

शब्दशः अर्थ

सः वध्यमानः बहुधाsaḥ vadhyamānaḥ bahudhāhe, being struck repeatedly; he, assailed from every side
भीमसेनेन राक्षसःbhīmasenena rākṣasaḥby Bhimasena, the rakshasa; by Bhimasena, the rakshasa
संत्यज्य संयुगे भीमम्saṃtyajya saṃyuge bhīmamabandoning Bhima in battle; leaving Bhima in combat
द्रोणानीकम् उपाद्रवत्droṇānīkam upādravatrushed toward the army of Drona; charged at the ranks of Drona
तस्मिन् तु निर्जिते राजन्tasmin tu nirjite rājanwhen he, however, was conquered, O king; at that one, conquered, O king
राक्षसेन्द्रे महात्मनाrākṣasendre mahātmanāthe lord of the rakshasas, by the great-souled one; the king of the rakshasas, [slain] by the great-souled one
अनादयन् सिंहनादैःanādayan siṃhanādaiḥthey resounded with lion-roars; they filled with lion-cries
पाण्डवाः सर्वतोदिशम्pāṇḍavāḥ sarvatodiśamthe Pandavas, every direction; the Pandavas, all quarters
अपूजयन् मारुतिम् चapūjayan mārutim caand honored the son of the Wind; and paid homage to the son of Maruta
संहृष्टाः ते महाबलम्saṃhṛṣṭāḥ te mahābalamrejoicing, [him,] the greatly mighty; exulting, [him,] the powerful one
प्रह्रादम् समरे जित्वाprahrādam samare jitvāhaving conquered Prahlada in battle; having vanquished Prahlada in combat
यथा शक्रम् मरुद्गणाःyathā śakram marudgaṇāḥas Shakra, the hosts of Maruts; just as the hosts of Maruts [honored] Shakra
अनुवाद

He, the rakshasa, struck again and again by Bhimasena, abandoning Bhima in the battle, rushed toward the army of Drona. But when that lord of the rakshasas was vanquished by the great-souled one, O king, the Pandavas filled every direction with lion-roars and, rejoicing, honored the mighty son of the Wind — as the hosts of Maruts honored Shakra when he had conquered Prahlada in battle.
