स वध्यमानः समरे शैनेयस्य शरोत्तमैः ॥
प्राद्रवत् सहसा राजन् पुत्रो दुर्योधनस् तव ॥
आप्लुतश् च ततो यानं चित्रसेनस्य धन्विनः ॥
हाहाभूतं जगच् चासीद् दृष्ट्वा राजानम् आहवे ॥
ग्रस्यमानं सात्यकिना खे सोमम् इव राहुणा ॥

sa vadhyamānaḥ samare śaineyasya śarottamaiḥ ||
prādravat sahasā rājan putro duryodhanas tava ||
āplutaś ca tato yānaṃ citrasenasya dhanvinaḥ ||
hāhābhūtaṃ jagac cāsīd dṛṣṭvā rājānam āhave ||
grasyamānaṃ sātyakinā khe somam iva rāhuṇā ||

प्राद्रवत् सहसा राजन्prādravat sahasā rājanfled suddenly, O king; suddenly turned to flight, O king
पुत्रः दुर्योधनः तवputraḥ duryodhanaḥ tavayour son Duryodhana; your son Duryodhana
हाहाभूतम् जगत् च आसीत्hāhābhūtam jagat ca āsītthe world became one of cries of "alas"; the world resounded with cries of "alas"
दृष्ट्वा राजानम् आहवेdṛṣṭvā rājānam āhaveseeing the king in battle; seeing the king in the fight
ग्रस्यमानम् सात्यकिनाgrasyamānam sātyakinābeing swallowed by Satyaki; being swallowed by Satyaki
खे सोमम् इव राहुणाkhe somam iva rāhuṇāin the sky the moon, as by Rahu; in the sky, the moon, as if by Rahu
अनुवाद

He, being struck down in battle by the finest arrows of the son of Shini, suddenly fled, O king — your son Duryodhana. And the world resounded with cries of "alas," seeing the king in battle being swallowed by Satyaki, as the moon in the sky is swallowed by Rahu.
