तीर्णाः स्म दुस्तरं तात द्रोणानीकमहार्णवम् ॥
जलसंधबलेनाजौ पुरुषादैर् इवावृतम् ॥
अतो ऽन्यं पृतनाशेषं मन्ये कुनदिकाम् इव ॥
तर्तव्याम् अल्पसलिलां चोदयाश्वान् असंभ्रमम् ॥

tīrṇāḥ sma dustaraṃ tāta droṇānīkamahārṇavam ||
jalasaṃdhabalenājau puruṣādair ivāvṛtam ||
ato 'nyaṃ pṛtanāśeṣaṃ manye kunadikām iva ||
tartavyām alpasalilāṃ codayāśvān asaṃbhramam ||

तीर्णाः स्म दुस्तरम् तातtīrṇāḥ sma dustaram tātawe have crossed the hard-to-cross, O dear one; we have crossed the impassable, O dear one
द्रोणानीकमहार्णवम्droṇānīkamahārṇavamthe great ocean of Drona's array; the great ocean of Drona's array
जलसंधबलेन आजौjalasaṃdhabalena ājauby the might of Jalasandha in battle; by Jalasandha's might in combat
पुरुषादैः इव आवृतम्puruṣādaiḥ iva āvṛtamas if surrounded by man-eaters; as though surrounded by man-eaters
अतः अन्यम् पृतनाशेषम्ataḥ anyam pṛtanāśeṣamthen the remainder of the army, another; and the rest of the host, another
मन्ये कुनदिकाम् इवmanye kunadikām ivaI deem [as] a wretched little river; I think of as a paltry stream
तर्तव्याम् अल्पसलिलाम्tartavyām alpasalilām[easily] crossable, shallow; easily fordable, shallow
चोदय अश्वान् असंभ्रमम्codaya aśvān asaṃbhramamurge on the horses without confusion; drive the horses without haste
अनुवाद

"We have crossed the hard-to-cross great ocean of Drona's array, in battle [as if] surrounded by man-eaters through the might of Jalasandha. And the rest of the host I deem [as] a wretched little river, [easily] crossable, shallow; urge on the horses without confusion."
