संजय उवाच
तम् उत्तीर्णं रथानीकात् तमसो भास्करं यथा ॥
दिधारयिषुर् आचार्यः शरवर्षैर् अवाकिरत् ॥
पिबन्न् इव शरौघांस् तान् द्रोणचापवरातिगान् ॥
सो ऽभ्यवर्तत सोदर्यान् मायया मोहयन् बलम् ॥
तं मृधे वेगम् आस्थाय परं परमधन्विनः ॥
चोदितास् तव पुत्रैश् च सर्वतः पर्यवारयन् ॥

taṃ mṛdhe vegam āsthāya paraṃ paramadhanvinaḥ ||
coditās tava putraiś ca sarvataḥ paryavārayan ||

सः अभ्यवर्तत सोदर्यान्saḥ abhyavartata sodaryānhe pressed on toward his own brothers; he moved against his own brothers
मायया मोहयन् बलम्māyayā mohayan balambewildering the army with a kind of enchantment; confounding the army with illusion
तम् मृधे वेगम् आस्थायtam mṛdhe vegam āsthāyahim, having gathered speed in battle; him, having taken up speed in the fight
परम् परमधन्विनःparam paramadhanvinaḥthe highest, the foremost archers; the highest, the foremost bowmen
चोदिताः तव पुत्रैः चcoditāḥ tava putraiḥ caurged on also by your sons; spurred on also by your own sons
सर्वतः पर्यवारयन्sarvataḥ paryavārayansurrounded him from every side; encircled him from all sides
अनुवाद

Him breaking free of the chariot ranks, like the sun bursting from darkness, the teacher, wishing to hold him back, showered with torrents of arrows. As though drinking in those streams of arrows that flew from Drona's excellent bow, he pressed on toward his own brothers, bewildering the army with a kind of enchantment. Him, who had gathered the highest speed in battle, the foremost archers, urged on also by your sons, surrounded from every side.
