Санджая
स तथा संवृतो भीमः प्रहसन्न् इव भारत ॥
उदयच्छद् गदां तेभ्यो घोरां तां सिंहवन् नदन् ॥
अवासृजच् च वेगेन तेषु तान् प्रमथद् बली ॥
सेन्द्राशनिर् इवेन्द्रेण प्रविद्धा संहतात्मना ॥
घोषेण महता राजन् पूरयित्वेव मेदिनीम् ॥
ज्वलन्ती तेजसा भीमा त्रासयाम् आस ते सुतान् ॥
तां पतन्तीं महावेगां दृष्ट्वा तेजोभिसंवृताम् ॥
प्राद्रवंस् तावकाः सर्वे नदन्तो भैरवान् रवान् ॥
तं च शब्दम् असंसह्यं तस्याः संलक्ष्य मारिष ॥
प्रापतन् मनुजास् तत्र रथेभ्यो रथिनस् तदा ॥
sa tathā saṃvṛto bhīmaḥ prahasann iva bhārata ||
udayacchad gadāṃ tebhyo ghorāṃ tāṃ siṃhavan nadan ||
avāsṛjac ca vegena teṣu tān pramathad balī ||
sendrāśanir ivendreṇa praviddhā saṃhatātmanā ||
ghoṣeṇa mahatā rājan pūrayitveva medinīm ||
jvalantī tejasā bhīmā trāsayām āsa te sutān ||
tāṃ patantīṃ mahāvegāṃ dṛṣṭvā tejobhisaṃvṛtām ||
prādravaṃs tāvakāḥ sarve nadanto bhairavān ravān ||
taṃ ca śabdam asaṃsahyaṃ tasyāḥ saṃlakṣya māriṣa ||
prāpatan manujās tatra rathebhyo rathinas tadā ||
He, thus surrounded, Bhima, as though smiling, O Bharata, raised against them his terrible mace, roaring like a lion — like Indra's thunderbolt, hurled by resolute-hearted Indra, with a great roar, O king, as though filling the whole earth. Seeing it fall, swift and wrapped in radiance, all your men scattered, uttering terrible cries.

Bhima's mace, "sendrāśanir iva," like Indra's thunderbolt, puts a multitude to flight by its very appearance. It is telling that the terror of the valorous strikes fear before the blow lands. The verse teaches that strength shielded by truth is fearsome in its very manifestation: a dreadful weapon in a righteous hand scatters the enemy before it even touches them, for a heart frightened by untruth flees at the mere gleam of retribution.
