मम सर्वे ऽपि राजानो जानन्त्य् एतन् महाव्रतम् ॥
न शक्यो मामको हन्तुं यो मे स्याद् बाणगोचरे ॥
यूपकेतो समीक्ष्य त्वं न मां गर्हितुम् अर्हसि ॥
न हि धर्मम् अविज्ञाय युक्तं गर्हयितुं परम् ॥

na śakyo māmako hantuṃ yo me syād bāṇagocare ||

न हि धर्मम् अविज्ञायna hi dharmam avijñāyafor not knowing dharma; for, without knowing dharma
युक्तम् गर्हयितुम् परम्yuktam garhayitum paramis it not fitting to reproach another; one ought not to reproach another
अनुवाद
"All the kings know this great vow of mine: my warrior, once within range of my arrow, cannot be slain by another. O [warrior] of the sacrificial-post banner, having considered this, you are not entitled to reproach me; for without knowing dharma, one ought not to reproach another."

Arjuna reveals another ground: the vow of protection -- whoever falls under his hand must not perish by another's. It is significant to note "na hi dharmam avijñāya" -- do not reproach without knowing dharma: judgment requires knowledge of all the circumstances. The verse teaches that a reproach delivered without knowledge of hidden obligations and vows is hasty; before condemning another's act, one must learn the dharma that bound it, for behind an outward wrong may stand another, unknown duty.
