उदीर्यमाणं तद् दृष्ट्वा पाण्डवानां महद् बलम् ॥
अविषह्यं च मन्वानः कर्णं दुर्योधनो ऽब्रवीत् ॥
अयं स कालः संप्राप्तो मित्राणां मित्रवत्सल ॥
त्रायस्व समरे कर्ण सर्वान् योधान् महाबल ॥
पाञ्चालैर् मत्स्यकैकेयैः पाण्डवैश् च महारथैः ॥
वृतान् समन्तात् संक्रुद्धैर् निःश्वसद्भिर् इवोरगैः ॥
एते नदन्ति संहृष्टाः पाण्डवा जितकाशिनः ॥
शक्रोपमाश् च बहवः पाञ्चालानां रथव्रजाः ॥

ete nadanti saṃhṛṣṭāḥ pāṇḍavā jitakāśinaḥ ||
śakropamāś ca bahavaḥ pāñcālānāṃ rathavrajāḥ ||

कर्णम् दुर्योधनः अब्रवीत्karṇam duryodhanaḥ abravītto Karna Duryodhana said; Duryodhana spoke to Karna
अयम् सः कालः संप्राप्तःayam saḥ kālaḥ saṃprāptaḥthis that hour has come; here that hour has come
मित्राणाम् मित्रवत्सलmitrāṇām mitravatsalaof friends, o friend-loving one; [to help] friends, o lover of friends
त्रायस्व समरे कर्णtrāyasva samare karṇasave [in] battle, Karna; save in battle, Karna
सर्वान् योधान् महाबलsarvān yodhān mahābalaall warriors, mighty one; all warriors, mighty one
पाञ्चालैः मत्स्यकैकेयैःpāñcālaiḥ matsyakaikeyaiḥby the Panchalas, Matsyas, Kekayas; by the Panchalas, Matsyas, Kekayas
पाण्डवैः च महारथैःpāṇḍavaiḥ ca mahārathaiḥand by the Pandavas, great warriors; and by the Pandavas, the maharathas
वृतान् समन्तात् संक्रुद्धैःvṛtān samantāt saṃkruddhaiḥsurrounded on all sides by the enraged; surrounded by the enraged on every side
निःश्वसद्भिः इव उरगैःniḥśvasadbhiḥ iva uragaiḥ[like] hissing serpents; as if by hissing serpents
एते नदन्ति संहृष्टाःete nadanti saṃhṛṣṭāḥthese roar, exultant; there they roar, exultant
पाण्डवाः जितकाशिनःpāṇḍavāḥ jitakāśinaḥthe Pandavas, radiant with victory; the Pandavas, shining with victory
शक्रोपमाः च बहवःśakropamāḥ ca bahavaḥand many resembling Shakra; and many resembling Shakra
पाञ्चालानाम् रथव्रजाःpāñcālānām rathavrajāḥthe chariot-hosts of the Panchalas; the chariot-hosts of the Panchalas
अनुवाद

Seeing that surging great army of the Pandavas and deeming it unbearable, Duryodhana spoke to Karna: "Here has come that hour to help friends, o lover of friends; save in battle, Karna, all the warriors, mighty one. Surrounded on all sides by the enraged Panchalas, Matsyas, Kekayas, and by the Pandavas, the maharathas, like hissing serpents — there they roar, exultant, the Pandavas, shining with victory, and the many chariot-hosts of the Panchalas, resembling Shakra."
