तेषु निक्षिप्तशस्त्रेषु वाहनेभ्यश् च्युतेषु च ॥
तद् अस्त्रवीर्यं विपुलं भीममूर्धन्य् अथापतत् ॥
हाहाकृतानि भूतानि पाण्डवाश् च विशेषतः ॥
भीमसेनम् अपश्यन्त तेजसा संवृतं तदा ॥

अनुवाद
When they had laid down their weapons and dismounted from their vehicles, that vast power of the weapon then fell upon Bhima's head. The creatures cried out in anguish, and the Pandavas especially; they beheld Bhimasena wrapped then in radiance [flame].

The entire force of the weapon, finding no other target, falls upon the one defiant Bhima, wrapping him in flame. It is telling that his obstinacy brought upon him what humility spared the others: pride gathered the whole blow onto itself. The verse teaches that one who rejects saving humility takes upon himself the full weight of disaster; and the circle closes at the fateful moment — Bhima in fire, and only the same wisdom he scorned can now save him.
