ओंकारेणान्तरितं ये जपन्ति गोविन्दस्य पञ्चपदं मनुं तं ।
तेषामसौ दर्शयेदात्मरूपं तस्मान् मुमुक्षुरभ्यसेन्नित्यं शान्त्यै

अनुवाद
They who murmur the five-worded mantra of Govinda, enclosed by the oṁkāra — to them He shows His own form. Therefore let one who longs for freedom repeat it constantly, for peace.

The verse promises for japa not a general good but something quite definite: "He shows His own form", darśayet ātma-rūpam. The fruit of the mantra, that is, is the seeing of Him whose name it is.
The word antarita — "enclosed, interspersed" — matters: the five-worded mantra is uttered within the oṁkāra, beginning and ending it with the syllable OṀ. Thus a particular name is set inside the most general one — that by which the Veda names the Highest as such.
One condition is named: abhyaset nityam — "let him practise constantly". Abhyāsa, constancy, is in the śāstras the chief condition of all contemplation; the Śvetāśvatara says the same, comparing contemplation to the drawing of fire by friction.
And the goal for which the repetition is enjoined is named with unexpected modesty: śāntyai, "for peace". Not for visions and not for powers. Peace here is the very state in which alone a meeting is possible; of it the last mantra of the Śvetāśvatara also speaks, where the secret is not to be given to the unpacified.
This verse together with the two preceding forms a chain: worship without self-interest — take refuge — repeat the name. Three means, and all three lead to one thing: He shows Himself.
