The Lord addresses Brahmā and prescribes to him constant worship — of Him who abides in Mathurā "in the form of Kṛṣṇa".
The word adhiṣṭhita means "established, settled": not one who has visited once but one who abides. Thereby the promise of mantra 54 — "My abiding will always be" — is turned into a precept: since He is always there, worship too must be constant.
Note to whom this is said. Not to a man and not to an ascetic, but to the creator of the world. This is the second time in the book: in the Pūrva-tāpanī Brahmā received the mantra and himself became a worshipper; here he is told to worship an image.
The phrase kṛṣṇa-rūpin, "having the form of Kṛṣṇa", settles the question of which form to worship. Of the twelve forms named before, one is indicated.
The following mantras will tell how this worship is divided among classes of worshippers.
