महारथाः कृतास्त्राश् च समुपैष्यन्ति भूमिपाः ॥

Here a brilliant gathering of suitors reveals itself. It is telling that the worthiest come streaming toward the maiden -- valiant kings, learned men, men of vows: the hand of a divine bride draws the flower of the earth. Here the high moves toward the high: the destined maiden gathers the chosen around her. So the scripture shows the grandeur of the coming contest; and amid this splendor the humble brahmacharin brothers will appear, to whom the prize is destined.
