译文
Drona said: "We know, by the wickedness of your nature, for what purpose this is said; malicious one, for the sake of destroying the Pandavas you cast blame upon us. But I speak the highest good, which increases the line of Kuru, O Karna; and if you deem it evil, then say yourself what the highest good is."

Here the righteous man sees through slander and exposes it. It is telling that Drona perceives Karna's intent at once: he blackens the counselors in order to destroy the Pandavas. This shows that the pure of heart discern deceit and are not afraid to name it. Thus the verse reveals Drona's firmness before slander; and he challenges Karna to declare the 'higher good' himself, exposing the emptiness of his accusations.
