नारदस् त्व् अथ देवर्षिर् आजगाम यदृच्छया ॥
आसनं रुचिरं तस्मै प्रददौ स्वं युधिष्ठिरः ॥
देवर्षेर् उपविष्टस्य स्वयम् अर्घ्यं यथाविधि ॥
प्रादाद् युधिष्ठिरो धीमान् राज्यं चास्मै न्यवेदयत् ॥

译文

"And now, when all those great-souled ones had taken their seats, the divine sage Narada arrived unannounced; Yudhishthira offered him his own splendid seat; to the divine sage, once seated, the wise Yudhishthira himself, as is proper, offered the arghya, and placed his kingdom at his service."

注释

Here the king honors the holy one above himself. It is telling that Yudhishthira yields his own seat to Narada and offers him the whole kingdom: before the sage, the ruler makes himself small. Here it becomes clear that reverence for the holy is the ornament of a righteous king. Thus the scripture shows Yudhishthira's humility; and Narada's arrival brings a good teaching.
