विहारदेशं संप्राप्य नानाद्रुमवत् उत्तमम्vihāradeśaṃ saṃprāpya nānādrumavat uttamamhaving reached the place for the outing, excellent, with various trees,
गृहैः उच्चावचैः युक्तं पुरंदरगृहोपमम्gṛhaiḥ uccāvacaiḥ yuktaṃ puraṃdaragṛhopamamfurnished with tall and low houses, resembling the house of Purandara [Indra],
भक्ष्यैः भोज्यैः च पेयैः च रसवद्भिः महाधनैःbhakṣyaiḥ bhojyaiḥ ca peyaiḥ ca rasavadbhiḥ mahādhanaiḥ[furnished] with delicacies, food, drinks, savory, costly,
माल्यैः च विविधैः युक्तं युक्तं वार्ष्णेयपार्थयोःmālyaiḥ ca vividhaiḥ yuktaṃ yuktaṃ vārṣṇeyapārthayoḥand various garlands — [a place] befitting Varshneya and Partha;
आविवेशतुः आपूर्णं रत्नैः उच्चावचैः शुभैःāviveśatuḥ āpūrṇaṃ ratnaiḥ uccāvacaiḥ śubhaiḥthey entered it, filled with various beautiful jewels;

Here permitted rest is enjoyed in its proper season. It is telling that even the great give themselves to an outing: in the fitting time, even those advanced in spirit allow themselves recreation. Joy, in measure and in its due season, is not contrary to dharma. Thus scripture reveals a gracious leisure; and amid it something wondrous is about to unfold.
