बभूव रूपम् अत्युग्रं सर्वभूतात्मनस् तदा ॥
समेतानां च देवानां दानवानां च सर्वशः ॥
विजेता नाभवत् कश् चित् कृष्णपाण्डवयोर् मृधे ॥

Here Krishna is called the "Soul of all beings" [sarva-bhutatma]. This name is significant: the Lord is the inner Soul of all that exists, and His terrible countenance is but one manifestation of His all-encompassing nature. Here is an indication of Krishna's supreme, all-pervading essence. So does scripture reveal the Lord's divinity; and therefore no one can conquer Him.
