अभिधावार्जुनेत्य् एवं मयश् चुक्रोश भारत ॥

प्रत्युवाच मयं पार्थो जीवयन्न् इव भारत ॥

Here to the one who cries out for protection is granted "fear not." It is significant that Arjuna's word "fear not" is like one restoring life: the one who takes refuge in a protector is not turned away, but saved. Here is the image of abhaya-dana [the gift of fearlessness], which the Lord and his devotee grant to one who surrenders to them: whoever cries out for shelter is saved. Thus scripture reveals Arjuna's mercy; and his word turns death into life.
