अर्चयाम् आस देवान् च द्विजान् चarcayām āsa devān ca dvijān cahonored the gods and the twice-born
यदु-पुंगवःyadu-puṃgavaḥthe bull of the Yadu race
माल्य-जप्य-नमस्कारैःmālya-japya-namaskāraiḥwith garlands, [quiet] prayer, bows,
गन्धैः उच्च-अवचैः अपिgandhaiḥ ucca-avacaiḥ apiand fragrances of every kind;
सः कृत्वा सर्व-कार्याणिsaḥ kṛtvā sarva-kāryāṇihe, having performed all his duties,
प्रतस्थे तस्थुषाम् वरःpratasthe tasthuṣām varaḥset out [on the road], the best of the steadfast;
स्वस्ति वाच्य अर्हतः विप्रान्svasti vācya arhataḥ viprānhaving bidden worthy brahmins [proclaim] "svasti",
दधि-पात्र-फल-अक्षतैःdadhi-pātra-phala-akṣataiḥwith vessels of curd, fruits, and whole rice;
वसु प्रदाय च ततःvasu pradāya ca tataḥand having distributed wealth, then
प्रदक्षिणम् अवर्ततpradakṣiṇam avartataperformed the circumambulation from left to right.

Here the very giver of all blessings receives the blessing of the brahmins before the road. It is significant that Krishna, the source of auspiciousness, honors the established rite of 'svasti' and gives gifts to the twice-born: the Lord Himself observes what He teaches people, sanctifying every undertaking. Thus scripture shows that one's journey too should be preceded by blessing and generosity; and Krishna now mounts his chariot.
