译文

Well-conceived and well-executed are the acts of that learned man who forms marriage alliances with people of equal standing, not with those beneath him, who places before himself those more qualified, and who speaks, behaves, and forms friendships with people of his own rank. He who eats sparingly, sharing his food among his dependents, who sleeps little after great labor, and who, when asked, gives even to his enemies, has his soul under control, and misfortunes always turn away from him. He whose counsels are carefully kept and well carried out, and whose resulting actions are never known by others to harm people, succeeds in achieving even the smallest of aims. He who is resolved to refrain from harming all beings, who is truthful, gentle, compassionate, and pure of soul, shines brightly among his kinsmen like a jewel of purest ray drawn from an excellent mine. That man who feels shame, though his faults are known to no one but himself, is held in the highest honor among all people.
