द्वाःस्थं प्राह महाप्राज्ञो धृतराष्ट्रो महीपतिः ॥
विदुरं द्रष्टुम् इच्छामि तम् इहानय माचिरम् ॥
प्रहितो धृतराष्ट्रेण दूतः क्षत्तारम् अब्रवीत् ॥
ईश्वरस् त्वां महाराजो महाप्राज्ञ दिदृक्षति ॥
एवम् उक्तस् तु विदुरः प्राप्य राजनिवेशनम् ॥
अब्रवीद् धृतराष्ट्राय द्वाःस्थ मां प्रतिवेदय ॥
द्वाःस्थ उवाच
विदुरो ऽयम् अनुप्राप्तो राजेन्द्र तव शासनात् ॥
द्रष्टुम् इच्छति ते पादौ किं करोतु प्रशाधि माम् ॥
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
प्रवेशय महाप्राज्ञं विदुरं दीर्घदर्शिनम् ॥
अहं हि विदुरस्यास्य नाकाल्यो जातु दर्शने ॥

viduraṃ draṣṭum icchāmi tam ihānaya māciram ||

īśvaras tvāṃ mahārājo mahāprājña didṛkṣati ||
evam uktas tu viduraḥ prāpya rājaniveśanam ||
abravīd dhṛtarāṣṭrāya dvāḥstha māṃ prativedaya ||
dvāḥstha uvāca
viduro 'yam anuprāpto rājendra tava śāsanāt ||
draṣṭum icchati te pādau kiṃ karotu praśādhi mām ||
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca
praveśaya mahāprājñaṃ viduraṃ dīrghadarśinam ||
ahaṃ hi vidurasyāsya nākālyo jātu darśane ||
Vaishampayana said: 'Wise King Dhritarashtra, endowed with great intelligence, then said to the gatekeeper: "I wish to see Vidura. Bring him here without delay." Sent by Dhritarashtra, the messenger went to Kshattri and said: "O you who possess great wisdom, our lord, the mighty king, wishes to see you." Having received this message, Vidura set out and, arriving at the palace, addressed a servant: "Announce my arrival to Dhritarashtra." The servant then approached Dhritarashtra and said: "O greatest of kings, Vidura stands here by your command. He wishes to behold your feet. Command me as to what he should do." Dhritarashtra then said: "Let Vidura, endowed with great wisdom and foresight, enter. I am never unwilling or unready to see Vidura." The servant then went out and addressed Vidura: "O Kshattri, enter the inner chambers of the wise king. The king says that he will never refuse to see you."' Vaishampayana continued: 'Entering the chambers of Dhritarashtra, Vidura, with joined palms, addressed the ruler of men, who was then sunk in thought: "O you of great wisdom, I am Vidura, come here by your command."'
