कृपानुकम्पा कारुण्यम् आनृशंस्यं च भारत ॥
तथार्जवं क्षमा सत्यं कुरुष्व् एतद् विशिष्यते ॥

अशिष्टा गतमर्यादा लोभेन हृतचेतसः ॥
स्वेषु बन्धुषु मुख्येषु तद् वेत्थ भरतर्षभ ॥

aśiṣṭā gatamaryādā lobhena hṛtacetasaḥ ||
sveṣu bandhuṣu mukhyeṣu tad vettha bharatarṣabha ||
What you have told me is undoubtedly true, worthy of approval, and in accord with reason. But listen carefully, O Vidura, to the reason for my coming. Knowing well the malice of Dhritarashtra's son and the hostility of the kshatriyas who have sided with him, I have nonetheless come, O Vidura, to the Kurus.
