ततस् तस्य महाबाहोस् तिष्ठतः परिचारकाः ॥
सौवर्णं सर्वतोभद्रं मुक्तावैडूर्यमण्डितम् ॥
परार्ध्यास्तरणास्तीर्णं सोत्तरच्छदम् ऋद्धिमत् ॥
विश्वकर्मकृतं दिव्यम् उपजह्रुर् वरासनम् ॥
तत्र तस्योपविष्टस्य भूषणानि महात्मनः ॥
उपजह्रुर् महार्हाणि प्रेष्याः शुभ्राणि सर्वशः ॥
tatas tasya mahābāhos tiṣṭhataḥ paricārakāḥ ||
sauvarṇaṃ sarvatobhadraṃ muktāvaiḍūryamaṇḍitam ||
parārdhyāstaraṇāstīrṇaṃ sottaracchadam ṛddhimat ||
viśvakarmakṛtaṃ divyam upajahrur varāsanam ||
tatra tasyopaviṣṭasya bhūṣaṇāni mahātmanaḥ ||
upajahrur mahārhāṇi preṣyāḥ śubhrāṇi sarvaśaḥ ||
Then, to that mighty-armed one as he stood, the attendants brought the finest seat — the golden "all-blessed" throne, adorned with pearls and cat's-eye gems, spread with priceless coverings, canopied, splendid, divine, the work of Vishvakarman. And there, to him seated, the servants brought precious, bright ornaments of the great-souled one from every side.

The description of the throne and adornment is not admiration of luxury for its own sake but a manifestation of the dignity of the King of Dharma: "sarvatobhadram… viśvakarmakṛtam divyam", a throne "blessed on every side", the work of the divine craftsman. It is telling that the greatness of rank serves the cause of dharma: the bearing of a righteous ruler itself instills order. The verse, in describing royal splendor, reminds us that outer dignity is rightful when it clothes a bearer of duty; the adornment of Yudhishthira is not vanity but a sign of the service to justice entrusted to him.
