यां तु कृष्णार्जुनौ सेनां यां सात्यकिवृकोदरौ ॥
रक्षेरन् को नु तां युध्येच् चमूम् अन्यत्र कौरवैः ॥

Sanjaya gives due credit to the Kauravas as well: they "na rakṣanti jīvitam raṇe," do not spare their lives, fighting as kshatriyas ought. The father's reproach is unjust — the sons are valiant. And at once the measure of the enemy is given: an army guarded by Krishna, Arjuna, Satyaki, and Bhima is unconquerable by anyone, "anyatra kauravaiḥ," except by the Kauravas themselves, who dared it. It is telling how impartial the narrator is. The verse teaches truthfulness even toward those one reproaches: Sanjaya denounces Dhritarashtra, yet honors the courage of his sons; a true witness does not distort the truth to suit reproach.
