译文
With heaps of falling heads with earrings upon the surface of the earth, as if with heaps of lotuses, Partha made an offering. Bound to the harness, without armor, tormented by wounds, sprinkled with blood — when the elephants wheeled about in battle, men hung [from them].

«Padmānām iva saṃghātaiḥ… cakre nivedanam», 'made an offering as with heaps of lotuses': the poet beholds the severed heads as a sacrificial offering — lotuses laid upon the altar of battle. The image transforms horror into sacrifice. It is telling that battle is here understood as a sacrifice (raṇa-yajña), in which the fallen are the offerings. The verse teaches the Vedic vision of war as sacrifice: death in a righteous battle is not meaningless but is an offering, and the fallen, like lotuses at the altar, rise to what is higher; thus grief is stilled by the thought of the sacrificial meaning of death within dharma.
