译文
«When that front line was broken, being slaughtered by the Diademed One, what heroes there in the battle came out against Dhananjaya? Or did they, having entered the wagon-formation with a vain resolve, stand leaning on Drona [as] upon a wall, [thinking themselves] safe?»

«Droṇam āśritya… prākāram akutobhayāḥ», ‘leaning on Drona as upon a wall, thinking themselves safe’ — Dhritarashtra himself foresees the futility of such hope: «moghaniścayāḥ», their resolve is vain. Reliance on a human wall, rather than on dharma, is deceptive. The verse teaches that shelter behind another's strength gives no true safety: whoever relies on Drona as a wall, rather than on truth, deceives himself; for a wall made of a man crumbles, while only faithfulness to duty and the protection of God shield — and the unrighteous have neither.
