ताव् अर्जुनं सहस्रेण पत्रिणां नतपर्वणाम् ॥
पूरयाम् आसतुः क्रुद्धौ तडागं जलदौ यथा ॥
श्रुतायुश् च ततः क्रुद्धस् तोमरेण धनंजयम् ॥
आजघान रथश्रेष्ठः पीतेन निशितेन च ॥
सो ऽतिविद्धो बलवता शत्रुणा शत्रुकर्शनः ॥
आजगाम परं मोहं मोहयन् केशवं रणे ॥
tāv arjunaṃ sahasreṇa patriṇāṃ nataparvaṇām ||
pūrayām āsatuḥ kruddhau taḍāgaṃ jaladau yathā ||
śrutāyuś ca tataḥ kruddhas tomareṇa dhanaṃjayam ||
ājaghāna rathaśreṣṭhaḥ pītena niśitena ca ||
so 'tividdho balavatā śatruṇā śatrukarśanaḥ ||
ājagāma paraṃ mohaṃ mohayan keśavaṃ raṇe ||
The two showered Arjuna with a thousand feathered arrows of smooth joint, enraged, as clouds pour upon a pool. And Shrutayus then, in his rage, foremost of charioteers, struck Dhananjaya with a dart -- gilded and sharp. He, deeply pierced by the mighty foe, [himself] a destroyer of foes, fell into a deep swoon, [thereby] bewildering Keshava in the battle.

Even Arjuna "ājagāma paraṃ moham," falls into deep swoon from the blow of a dart: even the greatest is not immune in the body. Telling is it that his moment of unconsciousness "mohayan keśavam," bewilders Keshava too -- a friend suffers with his friend's suffering. The verse teaches that even the hero is mortal and vulnerable: bodily frailty overtakes even the best; but this is no disgrace, only a reminder of the human nature carried even by the bearer of divine power; and the love of one close to him shares even his moment of unconsciousness.
