शौरेर् अभीशुहस्तस्य पार्थस्य च धनुष्मतः ॥
तयोर् आसीत् प्रतिभ्राजः सूर्यपावकयोर् इव ॥

Red-eyed, mighty-armed, Krishna and the Pandava, readied, roared again and again, joyful, at the sight of the king of Sindhu. Of Shauri [Krishna], holding the reins, and of the Partha, holding the bow, there was an answering radiance, as of the sun and fire.

The two shine "sūryapāvakayoḥ iva", like the sun and fire: Krishna the charioteer and Arjuna the archer, their radiance merging into one. Red-eyed with the fire of battle, joyful at the sight of the target. It is significant that here two luminaries — God and His devotee — are joined into one. The verse teaches that the Lord and the devotee, acting as one, manifest a single light: charioteer and warrior, like sun and fire, merge into one shared radiance; and the inseparability of God from the one devoted to Him is the very source of that strength which rushes joyfully toward the fulfillment of what is ordained.
