A multitude converges on a single chariot, "tad anīkaṃ bibhitsantaḥ," straining to break the formation around the teacher: the whole force is turned upon one man. It is telling that Drona's fearsomeness is such that against him they raise "mahāstrāṇi," the greatest weapons, and mass entire armies. The verse teaches that true mastery in a single man draws the strength of many upon itself; where a true warrior stands, the battle contracts to a single point, for in him alone lies the stronghold of the whole army.
