Surrounding the enemy, the brothers act in concert—and the first fruit of unity appears: the foe's horses are struck down, his chariot immobilized. It is telling that what each could not achieve alone, their combined effort accomplishes. The verse teaches that the concord of many prevails where scattered valor is powerless: bound in a common order, the brave gradually strip a formidable enemy of the very supports on which his strength rests.
